Bridging the Communication Gap
Explore UNR research and expertise
Bridging the Communication Gap is an innovation project at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources (UNR) focused on advancing AI-supported science communication within forestry, environmental, and sustainability sciences.
Bridging the Communication Gap
In collaboration with the SMC Lab of the Science Media Center, and funded by the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation, the project is developing an AI-based system to establish a practical, forward-looking model for institutional science communication that can be adapted by other research organizations.
Specifically, the system serves several core capabilities: making research hidden in repositories more accessible, helping find specific subject matter experts to connect researchers with one another and with media professionals, and monitoring the media landscape to match emerging topics with relevant UNR expertise.
Additionally, the system assists researchers in efficiently responding to incoming media inquiries and supports the creation of evidence-based communication content derived directly from their scientific publications.
